+OUR STORY
R.D. was born to missionary parents living near Macha, Zambia, and raised in Cumberland, Maryland. Growing up he always had an interest in creating videos. R.D. discovered a love for traveling and capturing the beauty of nature by visiting European and Central American countries as well as U.S. National Parks. He also found his calling for serving others through working on construction projects in under-resourced communities in Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico, and Hondurus. In college, he studied International Business at Frostburg University in Maryland where his spark for entrepreneurship was ignited.
Ashley was born raised in Gallman, Mississippi and does not have many memories that do not include a camera in her hand. Her love for capturing moments and nature through photography led to a hobby that opened up a lot of opportunities. After graduating high school, she used all of her (short) life savings to purchase her first professional camera. When she started getting requests for photos from people who were not friends or family, she launched her first business in 2010, Ashley Thaxton Photography. In 2013 Ashley had the opportunity to teach a summer-long photography class for children at the Spencer Perkins Center, a non-profit organization, in Jackson, Mississippi. She worked there full-time for several years as a Community & Youth Developement Social Worker after graduating from Belhaven University.
In 2013 R.D. & Ashley met through a mutual friend, discovered they were soulmates, and then were married nearly two years later in 2015. They had always shared a vision of serving their community and working together. In 2016 Pioneer Productions was launched, and became a full-time business by early 2017.
In 2019 Ashley was diagnosed with End-Stage Kidney Disease and received the miracle of a lifetime when R.D.'s father, Roy Chisholm, was matched as a donor and saved her life. Even though they already believed this before, having gone through the organ transplatation process together amplified their belief that every day is a gift from God. R.D. & Ashley's mission is to give back to their community and serve others in any way possible both personally and professionally.

Someone once said "Mississippians are born storytellers." I think that sums up what we strive to capture through our work and why we enjoy it so much. We love getting to meet people from all walks of life and capturing their unique story.
+BEHIND THE NAME
If there is one word to best describe each of us, it would be "pioneer". We love exploring the unknown and forging new paths in life as dreamers.
